‘A Writer’s Writer’, this is how her work is described on the US Review of Books. Winner of the Patrica Hackett Prize for short fiction, Bronwyn Rodden’s work has also been shortlisted for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel of the Year 2012 and her collection Short Fiction for an Absurd World was a finalist in the General Fiction category of the 2015 Eric Hoffer Award. Her novel, The Crushers, was selected for the Hachette/Queensland Writers Centre Manuscript Retreat. Most recently a collection of her short fiction ‘Darkness’ was longlisted for the Carmel Bird Digital Literary Award. Her work has been published in anthologies and literary journals in Australia and the UK and broadcast on radio. Her work has been selected for an international anthology of Surrealist poetry. Bronwyn is also a visual artist and lives on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Australia. The youngest of eight children Bronwyn knew she had to find a voice early. Fortunate to have parents who valued reading, her home contained a small collection of books and there was also access to a good public library. Besides reading, the children spent much time creating their own activities, including writing games, to while away those weekends and school holidays. After working in a variety of jobs, from clerical to scientific technical officer, Bronwyn completed her MA Writing at the University of Technology Sydney.
