Dean Mayes

Genres

Australian author and Intensive Care Nurse Dean Mayes is fascinated by philosophy and the paranormal, so his stories have woven elements of vivid realism with deep humanism and hints of magic. His debut novel “The Hambledown Dream” in 2010 was a sleeper hit, having garnered a loyal following after it began life as a serialized weekly blog. Dean followed his successful debut with “Gifts of the Peramangk (2012), “The Recipient” (2016), “The Artisan Heart” (2018) for Central Avenue Publishing and released “The Night Fisher Elegies” (2022) through Hambledown Road Imprints. Dean grew up near Melbourne, Australia, and now lives in Adelaide with his wife, Emily, his children, Xavier & Lucy, and his writing partner – a 10 year old spaniel named, Sam. Dean loves outdoor cooking, sailing his 65 year old Sparrow class yacht, anything to do with Star Wars and (insanely) long-form podcasts.
