Eddie Dilleen grew up in Mount Druitt, Western Sydney, a low socio-economic suburb with a reputation for crime and violence, where his single mother raised him on a modest pension and often struggled to keep food on the table. At the age of 14, Eddie began working at KFC, then moved to McDonald’s at 16 with a specific intention: to save enough money to buy property. His interest in property investing was sparked when a colleague mentioned his own first investment property, purchased together with his father. That brief workplace conversation sent Eddie down every research avenue he could find, from library books to whatever online material was available to a teenager in Western Sydney at the time.

He set himself the goal of buying a first property at 18, spent two years working and studying the market, and saved A$20,000 from his McDonald’s wages. Eddie’s investing tactics helped him build a portfolio of over 80 properties by age 32.
