Shankari is an Australian Tamil lawyer and writer. She spent a decade in London, working in the social justice field across thirty countries. She eventually returned home to Australia, where she now lives with her husband, four children and their dog, Benji. She uses story-telling to interrogate injustice. Her work explores dispossession, cultural erasure and connection.
She is the author of three published novels: Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens, Song of the Sun God and The Barrier. She is working on two television adaptations of her work and her next novel. Her work has been long-listed for the International Dublin Literary Award (2019), and short-listed for the Fairway National Literary Award (2018) and the Norma K Hemming Award for Speculative Fiction (2018). She loves writing more than most things in life.
